Who we are

Vision Statement:  an enduring community of faith in Jesus that welcomes, encourages, and equips.

The most recent Pauatahanui Parish Vision Document can be accessed for further detail of our vision.
OUR VALUES

Legacy – We value what we read in the Psalms that one generation will declare to the next the praiseworthy deeds of God.
We seek to do this by fostering inter generational relationships across the parish. In prayer and faith, we seek to raise leaders in the parish and pass the baton of faith legacy to the incoming generations.
Community -  We are a family, a loving and supportive church who are whanau, together we are becoming the body of Christ. The vision is that everyone has a place and is known. The early church met together daily to share life and break bread. We seek to provide different avenues to be the church together with an attitude of what can I give to community.
Transformation – We are disciples who are learning and growing our whole life. Everybody is invited into courses and groups that grow their faith be that a Lent study, Cursillo course or other tool alongside Sunday worship. We believe the Holy Spirit wants to transform all of us and stretch, challenge and grow us in our walk with Jesus.
Good news - Caring, loving, serving, mission, respond, reconciliation, blessing, others, overflow. Last, least, lost – There are many words we could use to tell of the way the church is the church in the local community and beyond. We believe in our call to be good news to those around us to carry hope to a hurting world.

WHAT WE HOLD DEAR...

  • We worship and honour God;
  • We are wholehearted disciples of Jesus, proclaiming the Kingdom of God, growing in faith, trusting in the Holy Spirit, and bringing people to Christ;
  • We treasure our Anglican identity: our covenantal relationship with our Bishop, our common Eucharist, our prayer book liturgy, our three tikanga church, our diversity, our thirst for social justice, our Bible-based teaching and living out the Word;
  • We do everything as family: whole-heartedly sharing our lives, thinking the best of each other, quickly resolving conflict, and knowing that we cannot thrive without our family;
  • We constantly seek to address injustice and need, transforming our communities and beyond in the name of Jesus, in both word and in action;
  • We rise together as a movement - celebrating and nurturing our diversity and strengths while giving each other the freedom to grow. Working together, we can achieve more.
