Kia ora tatou and welcome to this website of the Parish of Pauatahanui. The photo (which is the cover on the cover of our parish magazine this month) shows the very beautiful Inlet that can be seen from most parts of the parish but especially from the village which gives us our name.  One of our congregations GEOH (God's Earth Our Home) has a special concern for the environment and caring for creation so at a Whole Parish Service they led at the end of August our speaker was the Porirua Harbour Strategy Coordinator, Keith Calder. He spoke about our call as Christians to love God, love each other, and love God's world. This year Conservation Week is 12 - 19 September when the theme is Love New Zealand. Recently at Awesome Church, we have adapted the traditional Benedicite (or "Song of Creation") into the "Benedicite Pukerua" which you can read here.
Our parish is proudly part of Porirua City, just north of Wellington, and we are glad that the current mayor, Jenny Brash, is one of our Plimmerton congregation.  As a parish we care about local issues and the communities in which we live, in fact you could describe us as "local church for local families".  We have 10 different congregations that meet at different times and places, with varying styles of worship, so there are plenty of options for you if you can join us. If you are further away do please contact us as we appreciate knowing who uses our website.
We are of course also part of the wider Anglican Communion and the Diocese of Wellington. We enjoy using A New Zealand Prayer Book/He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa in some of our congregations, and we love celebrating God's presence among us in both contemporary and traditional ways.
We hope that this website encourages you on your journey of faith. May you discover God as Creator, Redeemer and Holy Spirit today in the place where you are!
