Parish Life

Picture
An enduring community of faith in Jesus that welcomes, encourages and equips.
Our Parish Values (Good News, Community, Transformation, Legacy) help shape our common life and our overall vision falls under three categories:

  1. A Worshipping Community
  2. Responding to God’s call to mission
  3. Caring for God’s creation

There are many different ways of expressing these in our parish.  Continue reading through this page to learn more about Our Services, Prayer, Parish Gatherings & Ministries, and Regular Parish Festivals & Events.

The best way to stay in the loop is to sign up to our weekly News4U email by contacting the office or click here to subscribe.

On these Sundays, we also have a space in the Parish Centre set up with toys & books for under 5's and their caregivers. Children are present for the beginning of the morning service and come back later for communion.

Other Sundays (i.e. 3rd & 5th Sunday of term and school holidays), we are all together for an intergenerational service.

If you would like more information or to help volunteer towards either of these please speak to the Parish Office.

Prayers & Squares

Picture
Gathering for quilting, fellowship and prayer.

A Prayer Quilt is a statement of our faith in God and our belief in the power of prayer.  It is a lap-sized quilt hand-tied with knots.  As each knot is tied prayer is offered for the person receiving the Prayer Quilt (the recipient).  After the quilt’s journey around the churches in our Parish it is given to the recipient as a gift of love & prayer.

Anyone who is facing a need for prayer or a situation to give thanks and celebrate – that person can become a recipient when sponsored by someone who sees the need and asks whether they would like a quilt.  Prayer Quilts are not a surprise – the recipient decides on the prayers they want people to pray for them.

The Prayers & Squares team meet in the Parish Centre every Wednesday from 9 – 11.30am.

Te Hāhi

Picture
Our Parish is part of a collection of 5 local churches in Porirua who form Te Hāhi Porirua.

Te Hāhi Aotearoa is a faith-based volunteer organisation that provides care and support to people impacted by family harm.   Te Hāhi is made up of a collective of churches within local communities that partner with Police in providing this support.

HOW WE HELP

SUPPORTING FAMILIES
Our volunteers visit families on behalf of the Police, and offer awhi (support) in many ways - through kai, practical help around the home, or simply a listening ear.

SUPPORTING POLICE
Our volunteers also support and encourage Police staff in appreciation for their efforts and the burden they bear.

Click here for more information on the
Te Hāhi website.  If you'd like to get involved, contact the Parish Office.
